We had heard about the "blue Ice" forming by the Mackinaw Bridge and I really wanted to check it out for myself. It was my birthday weekend and my adorable fiancé and I were planning to take off on a little adventure..... we headed north. Time to see this awesome natural phenomenon with my own eyes....and lens. It was such a beautiful day out, even warm in the car on the way up. Once we got out onto the ice...a whole different story. It was freezing! Weird, right....ice...freezing. HA!

I made it to the summit of the blue ice mountain... If you know me and know just how graceful I am, you understand that is quite the feat... I didn't even fall once! Go me! and the view...WOW... You have a great view of the Mighty Mac and Mackinaw Island... And yes, that is open water out there..

We were about 200 yards out from the shore, here is a look back at Mackinaw City.

Always a goof, but really wouldn't you bust out your best surfing moves when you see an "Ice Wave" ??

A little size comparison here. I know that the chunks of ice don't appear all that big in some of the photos... Well, here is my almost 6 foot tall fiancé standing next to one!. yea, they were huge!
